A Closer Look: Turtleneck Pullover

A Closer Look: Turtleneck Pullover

A few months ago, when designing the FW19 Collection, I asked our followers on Instagram (@lights.of.all) what kind of fall/winter clothing they preferred; comfy cozy or some fancy chic for parties. It was VERY clear that everyone wanted the former.
I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of turtlenecks, I've never really liked the look on myself and so I was never planning on making any. However, since everyone specifically asked for turtlenecks, I had to give it a try.

Because the original idea didn't come from me, I didn't have a clear idea of what kind of turtleneck to make. I knew I wanted to use this beautiful Mauve Recycled Polyester Fleece, but I didn't know what kind of style to make. So at first I made a big boxy loose fitting one. And when I tried it on I did not feel good. I didn't feel like the style was flattering in any way and even thought it was comfy and cozy, I didn't feel confident. So I asked my boyfriend! When in doubt, I always turn to him and he often guides me in the right direction :) So I made it a little more form fitting without being too tight. And BOOM! I loved it!

I made the neck part to stay close to your neck (because the one turtleneck I own is very loose around the neck and it always annoys me!) so when you are putting it on you have a moment of struggle, haha! But it's worth it. The dropped shoulders keep that cozy relaxed feeling, but the straighter cut around the body let it remain flattering in its comfiness.

The turtleneck is made from a 100% Recycled Polyester. And although I was hesitant to use a polyester, even though it's recycled, when I compared it with other fleece options that contained natural materials, it was honestly the best quality and since this one is anti-pilling I am confident you will be able to wear it for years to come! I will be doing a detailed blog post about my decision to use Recycled Polyester soon! Be sure to invest in a Guppy Bag to help ease the effects of plastic pollution in your laundry.
