LOA Blog — fall

INLAND this weekend!

INLAND this weekend!

We are so excited to be attending Inland again this fall.
Happening this Friday (2pm-9pm) and Saturday (11am-7pm) at 134 Peter Street in Toronto.

Inland is a Pop-Up event in Toronto featuring Canadian brands from jewelry and beauty to shoes and clothing. It's a great and easy way to shop locally and since most of the brands that go are small like us, it's a cool way to actually meet the designers and talk to them about their designs, etc.

We will have with us our new Fall Winter 2019 Collection: AMETHYST and some selected styles from past fall/winter collections as well.

Aurelie x Magalie for LOA

Aurelie x Magalie for LOA

I had the opportunity to work with Magalie Massey and Aurelie Sanhaji recently, I met both of them through the Bienséance magazine. Aurelie is wearing the Ballet Top with the Every Tank and Layering Pant

For her second outfit, Aurelie chose the Slip Dress (now sold out), the Robe Coat and the Skyglow Tuque.

A Closer Look : Cover Vest

A Closer Look : Cover Vest

This season, I reworked one of our SS17 Best Sellers; Cover Vest! The original version was a Maxi and it was in a grey midweight canvas. This season, it's just below the knee and in a lighter and softer canvas.

The Cover Vest is made from a 55% Hemp, 45% Organic Cotton Blend. I've mentioned why I love this blend before; Hemp and Organic Cotton are pretty similar in their properties, they have great absorbency. However, Hemp takes much less water (and no pesticides - but organic cotton doesn't use them anyway -...

A Closer Look: Ballet Top

A Closer Look: Ballet Top

The Ballet Top!! One of my absolute favorites of the basics collection and also one of the not-so-basic styles. I love it because it is a pretty simple style but it can be worn in SO many ways! My first idea was to make something to wear with cute simple dresses. You know when you go to a wedding and you need something on your shoulders? And end up bringing a shawl.. which is so boring! So I wanted to make something simple enough that it can be worn with any type of dress...

A Closer Look: Slip Dress

A Closer Look: Slip Dress

I think slip dresses are such a staple garment for any wardrobe but they can often look too much like an undergarment to actually wear. I got one once that had a bit too much lace and I never actually wore it outside my house because of it. I wanted to make one that had all the style factors of a slip dress but that looked like it was meant to wear as a dress and not a pijama.

The Dress is made from a 100% Tencel lightweight fabric, which is actually leftover supply from the winter coats from FW17....
